Awards & Exhibitions: pushing the boundaries of clay

Waiting for the tide to turn

"Waiting for the tide to turn" was a challenging work that pushed the boundaries of my competency with clay, using three types of stoneware clay and creating a form that suggests erosion. The making of this work coincided with a challenging life transition and is embodied with an autobiographical narrative. Hanging on for dear life to an eroding rock formation, our little octopus has faith that the tide will turn in her favour. The eroding landscape references the rain storms and landslides that occurred in my local environment and personal life.

Behind every work are many others that don't make the cut.

Works are made within a series which  is an explorative deep dive into an aspect of materiality and making.

Within each work is a secret autobiographical narrative that reflects my life journey at the time of making.
